– Label scans and photographs

I’ve added the following photographs (in between brackets are the pages where the links are entered):

Scans have been added for the following Nashboro releases:

– Perry Trio

Note:

  • A female group of which only three 45’s are known to exist, all released on the Allegro label from Los Angeles, CA. It’s possible that there’s also an LP release on the Allegro label.
  • The Cawthron, C&C and Allegro labels were run by Dunlap J. Cawthron around 1959 (Cawthron) and in the early 1960’s (C&C, Allegro). For more information, click here.

– Unknown group photographs #2

Any information on the groups pictured here, is welcome!

The text on top reads: “The all mighty church rockers of the West Coast known as the RCA recording art. Spiritual Airs Singers of Long Beach Calif.”

Shown op top is the name “Sensational Starlight” (with a phone number). The Gospel Discography (Laughton/Hayes) shows two groups with the name the Sensational Starlights” (plural); one recorded for MJ and Family, the other for Melron. Is this group one of them? The discography also lists the (Sensational) Starlight Singers, but this group recorded under this name  from 1969 and later and I assume this photograph is from an earlier date. This last group started recording as the Starlight Singers of Emporia, Virginia (one 45 was released: GRC 513).

I have added several artist/group photographs (between brackets are the label pages where they’re added to):

– Unknown group photographs

Here are some photographs that I have and of which I would like to obtain more details. Who can help? E-mail me and I will add all information to the website! Three photographs for now, with more to follow.

This group appears to be the Spiritual Stars of Los Angeles, Calif. (hand written in the upper left corner), but no information can be found on a group with this name. Or could it be the group that recorded for the Staff label?

Names and address are given, but more information is needed. There are many groups with this name in the gospel discography (Laughton/Hayes), but I didn’t find a match.

Interesting photograph of what seems to be the signing of a record deal. Not sure is this one has any connection with gospel, but it was included in a batch of  gospel photographs, so it seems likely. In the upper left corner there’s a picture of a preacher given, which may indicate that it’s indeed gospel related.
