Chance gospel

  • Chance was a label from Chicago, IL. owned by Steve Chandler and Art Sheridan. Ewart G. Abner Jr. was the general manager. The label started in September 1950 and was most famous for their blues and doo-wop releases. The company closed down at the end of 1954.
  • The Pilgrim Jubilee Singers first recorded for Chance. They continued to record for labels such as Nashboro, Peacock and Savoy.
  • The Boyer Brothers first recorded for Excello, than for Chance and Vee-Jay. After a nine year gap they continued to record for Savoy and Nashboro (the latter in the 1970’s).
